Sergio Loreto

Bio: Sergio has been dancing for 10 years and DJing for over 8 years. He is the co-founder of Swing Affair, the organizers of SoFlex. Sergio taste in music range from the 20’s to today. Big Band, Jazz, R&B, Jump Blues are nicely weaved together to give the dancers a great variety in tempos. Over the past 3 years Sergio has been bitten by the Blues bug. During this time his travels took him to DJ gigs at various events like the Y8A Blues Party, Herrang Dance Camp, various Blues parties and Exchange stops at Atlanta, San Francisco, Austin, London, Amsterdam, Moscow, among others.

Joel Shapiro

Joel’s love of swing came from two movies he saw on TV as a kid: “The Benny Goodman Story” and Abbott & Costello’s “Buck Privates.” Easily influenced, young Joel was hooked and a swing bum was born.  Joel’s education in swing continued in high school playing saxophone in his school’s swing band. And inspired by Benny Goodman, he also took up the clarinet. Fast-forward 20 years, Joel discovered as an adult he remained easily influenced and started swing dancing in 2005. Joel now DJ’s to the same Big Band music that started his love affair with swing. By playing this wonderful music, Joel hopes to make dancers appreciate the greatness of swing music itself.  Joel DJ’s weekly at Friday Night Jump.
